A woman cutting sugarcane near Taungkham village, Nawngkhio Township, in northern Shan State, was seriously injured by a drone bomb shrapnel on 21 February at around 4:30 pm and is still receiving treatment.

The injured woman is a 46-year-old woman named Nang Htwe Kham from Ummakha village. She was injured in the left side of her abdomen and large intestine.

A family member said, “While we were fleeing the war, there were many people cutting sugarcane in the plantation sites. We don’t know where the shrapnel came from. They hit her, and she was injured. She has not been discharged from the hospital yet, even after she has undergone surgery. Food and medicine are very expensive here, so she needs help while she is still receiving treatment.”

In addition, the monastery compound in Ummati village was bombed by the Terror Military Council with a drone, causing damage to many buildings in the compound. The details of the damage are still being investigated.
