Two Locals Killed in MNDAA Drone and Mortar Attacks in Kutkai

A local man was killed by a drone bomb dropped by the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) in Loi Sai Village, Kutkai Township, Northern Shan State, according to a local resident familiar with the incident.

An investigation revealed that on the evening of March 15, a drone attack on Loi Sai Village destroyed a monastery and several homes, resulting in the death of a young man.

“He and a novice were at the monastery when three drones came. While the novice was unhurt, the first blast hit the young man, killing him instantly. The monastery and nearby houses were also severely damaged,” the resident said.

In a separate incident on the same day, a mortar shell fired by the MNDAA landed in Hokyant Village, killing an elderly woman and damaging several homes, local residents told TWO.

The number of casualties from the MNDAA’s drone and mortar fire may be higher. TWO is still investigating to confirm the exact number of civilian casualties and those affected by the attacks.
