A Woman Seriously Injured in an Artillery Explosion in Kyaukgu Village, Southern Shan State, Needs Assistance for Medical Treatment
The artillery explosion in the village injured a local woman while the intense fighting between the Terror Military Council and Danu Army in the area near Kyaukgu village, Lawksawk Township in Southern Shan State, it was learned.
The incident occurred at 10:30 a.m. on January 15, 2025, when the injured woman was returning to the village to collect books for her daughter, who needed them to attend school in the city. She was injured when an artillery shell dropped and exploded beside her.
The injured woman told the Ta’ang Women’s Organization, “We were living in the jungle hiding from war, and my daughter needed to attend the school at Lawksawk. So, I went back to Kyaukgu to pick up her books. The artillery dropped behind me. I only realized it when it hit me. I had just known after it hit me. I don’t want no more people to get hurt like this”.
The injured woman, identified as Ma Kham Aye, 35, suffered injuries to her waist and back and is currently receiving treatment at Sao San Htun Hospital in need of assistance for her medical treatment.
Similarly, on January 16, 2025, the Terror Military Council bombed on Loi Hawng village in the Kyaukgu area with a Y12 aircraft, injuring many locals and killing three and the Ta’ang Women’s Organization is still investigating the incident for detailed information.
Fighting has been intensified between the Terror Military Council and the Danu People’s Liberation Army (DPLA) in the Kyaukgu area of Southern Shan State since the first week of January, with heavy artillery shelling, causing damage to homes and forcing local residents to flee the fighting.
