Monastery in Kyaukme Bombed, Killing One Monk and Injuring Five Others

At 3:30 PM today, the Terror military council bombed Kawpaung village in the Namkhon Village Tract, Kyaukme Township.

The military council dropped two 250-pound bombs on the village, killing the abbot and injuring five other monks and two local men, according to local residents.

One who killed was 96-year-old U Santi, the Abbot of the monastery. Those who were injured were 13-year-old Ashin Sandiba and Ashin Wisira, 14-year-old Ashin Auratha, 17-year-old Ashin Kumar, and 18-year-old Ashin Aik Kyan.Seriously Injured Civilians were 4-year-old Mai Aik Thein and two other local men.

In addition to the casualties, the Kawpaung village monastery and its shelter halls were destroyed, and two houses near the monastery were also damaged.

Early on the morning of October 22, a bomb was dropped on the center of Mang San village, Tat San village tract, Monglon Township, injuring one child and one woman and destroying four houses.

According to data collected by the Ta’ang Women’s Organization (TWO), a total of 42 people, including 13 children, were killed and 74 people, including 19 children, were injured in airstrikes from October 1 to 25.
