Statement of the 1st Congress of the Ta’ang Civil Society Network (TCSN)

- The 1st Congress of the Ta’ang Civil Society Network (TCSN) was held from August 4 to 6, 2026, in the Ta’ang region. The congress was attended by 70 participants, comprising 64 delegates representing 6 member organizations and 6 observers.
- During the congress, participants reviewed and analyzed the current Ta’ang political landscape and the status of the Spring Revolution. Discussions also encompassed human rights violations, humanitarian conditions, social issues, natural resource extraction, and the roles of women and youth. Furthermore, the congress successfully established TCSN’s future action plans and democratically elected 3 lead coordinators from among the delegates of the 6 member organizations to spearhead the implementation of these plans.
- The congress evaluated the “100-Day Peace” initiative proposed by coup leader Min Aung Hlaing, concluding that it is merely a superficial peace effort designed to consolidate his grip on power. It emphasized that Ethnic Armed Revolutionary Organizations (EROs), including the PSLF/TNLA, must exercise extreme vigilance and refrain from participating or collaborating in this initiative.
- Additionally, the congress highlighted that the excessive extraction of natural resources, including rare earth elements, coupled with ongoing human rights violations and a severe lack of accountability in the Ta’ang region, has increasingly exacerbated the daily hardships and livelihood struggles of the local population.
- Therefore, TCSN officially declares that it will stand firmly on its ultimate objectives. We will continue to collaborate with the forces of the Spring Revolution and partner organizations dedicated to implementing human rights and federal democracy, remaining.
