An unprovoked airstrike by the Terror Military Council on Webaung village, Mongmit Township, northern Shan State, an area controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army, killed three residents and injured nine others.
The terror military council airstrike bombed at at 8:20 p.m. on February 20, 2025.
The mother of the injured Maung Pyae Sone Oo described the attack, “It was 8:20 p.m. when I heard the sound of the plane; the bomb landed in a split second. I was sleeping. There were no soldiers in the village. When I heard the sound of the explosion, I ran into the house to check and I didn’t know what had happened. I realized later. [My son’s] both sides of calves were pierced. As I ran, I couldn’t help the dying children anymore and just ran away. The only people who helped were the soldiers who came by car and sent the injured for treatment. It happened quickly. Two people were hit at home, and the rest were at the head of our house. The two who died were in the house where the incident took place. Many [of the victims] were refugees. One carpenter lost an arm. One person was killed instantly. One of the grandmothers lost her heel. Her daughter-in-law was also hit in the stomach.”

She specifically mentioned one of the fatalities: “May Zin Htet was also sleeping with her child. She was the carpenter’s sister. Her stomach opened, and she died instantly. Her child was fine. They are not from this area.”
Due to the airstrikes, residents are afraid to sleep in the village and are currently sleeping in the forests and mountains for safety.
