Young Monk Steps on a Landmine in Kyaukme, Losing One Leg

A monk was injured after stepping on a landmine in the Nam Salin Monastery in Ward (2) of Yankin Ward, Kyaukme, which is under the control of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA).
On August 2, at 2:30 pm, a young monk named Ashin Nandar was clearing bushes in the monastery grounds when he stepped on a landmine and lost one leg, according to local residents in Kyaukme.
“The monk is a Burmese. He stepped on a landmine in the monastery compound while clearing the yard. He has now been taken to Lashio Hospital,” he said.

The local man added that U Nandar, 42 years old and having been in a monkhood for 1 year, was taken to Lashio Hospital with serious injuries.
