A Villager in Nawngkhio Seriously Injured After Stepping on a Landmine
A local man in Ohmmati, Nawngkhio Township—an area reportedly retaken by the Terror Military Council in Northern Shan State—lost his leg after stepping on a landmine.
A local man told TWO that the incident occurred while the victim was cleaning his yard at 2 p.m. on September 20.
“We were not at home when there was fighting. We were staying in another village where there was no fighting. We were cleaning our yard because we were planning to go home. I stepped on a landmine while we were cleaning. My right leg is now amputated above the knee,” he said.
The man who stepped on the landmine is 79-year-old Sai Htun Hla, an ethnic Shan. He is currently receiving treatment at Pyin Oo Lwin Hospital.
