Sixty houses destroyed in military tension between TNLA and RCSS
The heavy weaponry shelling destroyed 60 houses of civilians due to heavy fighting between Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) and Ta’ang National Liberation Army in Totsan and Nyaung Maung village tracts since January 4.
In Totsan village tract, there were sporadic clashes on January 2 and heavy fighting between two groups started on Independence Day (January 4) until January 6.
“We have upper and lower villages. Market quarters and central village. The incident is at center of the village. About 60 houses were destroyed. About 5 houses were seriously destroyed.” a local villager said.
The houses of U Tay Za, U Sai Kan, Daw Aye Nyein, U Nyi and Ma Aye Ying were most destroyed. A civilian Sai Htun Aye was also injured at his arm from a gunshot.
More than 120 people from Sar Port and Kong Thar villages in Totsan village tract had to flee the current fighting and around 1,600 local villagers from Loi Ting village tract had fled to Kyaukme.
