Local Man Injured Needs Help for Medical Treatment After Stepping on a Landmine While Spraying Pesticide in a Corn Field

A local man was injured after stepping on a landmine in Pintee Village, Mong Ting Village Tract, Kyaukme Township, the area recently retaken by the Terror Military Council, in Northern Shan State, according to the victim.

At 11:00 AM on September 14, the local man in Pintee Village, Mong Tinh Village Tract, was spraying herbicide in a corn field when he triggered a landmine, causing injuries to his leg.

“I was spraying herbicide in a corn field when I hit a landmine, and it exploded. I was injured in my left leg and hand. I had to have a steel rod put in my leg because it was directly hit,” the victim said.

The victim, Ko Sai Htun Kyi, a 30-year-old ethnic Shan man, is currently receiving treatment at Pyin Oo Lwin Hospital.

Since the fighting began in Nawngkhio Township, he has been forced to flee to Taunggyi Township for months,struggling financially. He told the Ta’ang Women’s Organization that he needs assistance with his medical expenses.
