Explosion in Namkham Kills Many Locals

A powerful blast rocked Kaung Tat village in Namkham township—an area currently controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA)—at around 12:25 a.m. today, May 31, leaving numerous local residents dead.

“We were incredibly lucky because we were away attending a wedding when the explosion happened,” said a male resident of Kaung Tat. “However, our house is completely destroyed and uninhabitable. The blast site itself has been blown into a massive crater, resembling a lake. We still need to go back and thoroughly check the situation.”

According to local sources, a Chinese company is situated near the village school and residential area. Locals allege that the company detonated an explosive device or munition capable of causing such catastrophic damage.

The explosion killed at least 10 villagers, injured hundreds of others, and destroyed numerous homes. The exact death toll and the full extent of the structural damage remain under investigation.#Namhkam #KaungTat #Explosion #Casualties #PropertyDamage
