A driver of truck carrying charcoal shot by Tatmadaw, treated at hospital
Tatmadaw shot U Nyi Lar, a driver of the truck carrying charcoal, who live at Loi Lawng village, Kawng Wine village tract in Namkham Township, on early morning around 3 am near a football field at Lower Namhwey village, Muse Township.
U Nyi Lar was driving the truck carrying charcoal from Nam Hpat Kar to export to China. When his truck came out from upper Nam Hway village to the road to Pang Sai, Tatmadaw shot him at his left thigh
A bullet stuck inside his thigh, U Nyi Lar was hospitalized at Muse public hospital for operation.
“We didn’t know the soldiers from Tatmadaw were following the car. After we heard two gunshots and found a motorbike behind the car in the rear mirror, we stopped the car. Immediately, they opened the car door and shot at the thigh of the driver. I was also dragged out of the car and threatened with a gun,” said spare driver of the truck.
Police from Muse came to the hospital but no help or financial support was given, but just questioning on the information
A local villager from Nam Hway village said, “he called me early morning and asked me to take him at Nam Tawng village as he was shot. As still dark, I didn’t dare to go immediately. The clinic at Nam Tawng was still closed and I took a car from a friend and brought him to Pang Sai public hospital. The hospital said he needed to take X’ray. I took the refer form and send him to Muse Hospital.”
In addition, Infantry Division 99 of Tatmadaw waited near lower Nam Hwey village and collected money from truck drivers of charcoal trucks as well as other trucks in November 2020, according to truck drivers.
