A man in Naung Kaw Gyi village in PSLF/TNLA-controlled Hsipaw Township has been injured after stepping on a landmine, and he needs assistance for medical expenses, his wife told the Ta’ang Women’s Association.

At around 8:00 am on July 16, a man from Naung Kaw village went into the jungle searching for mushrooms and stepped on a Landmine, sustaining serious injuries.

“Nobody saw when he stepped on the landmine. The area in the jungle is not far from our house, quite close. When hearing the sound of an explosion, his brother and I went to search for him and found him.”

Sai Aung Pwint, 27, who was injured, was hit by shrapnel on both legs below the knees. His fourth and fifth fingers were cut off on his right hand. He lost his left eye, and his left hand had to be amputated.

The wife of the victim said, “There is shrapnel in his left eye. The doctor said he needs an operation as he could not see. So, we need money for his treatment. We asked for money, and nobody has contributed yet. Please help us.”
