Man Injured by Landmine in Nawngkhio While Cutting Trees; Family Appeals for Medical Assistance
A 29-year-old man from Lone San Village, Nawngkhio Township—an area recently retaken by the Terror Military Council- in Northern Shan State, suffered severe leg injuries after stepping on a landmine, according to his family.
The incident occurred on December 26, 2025, at approximately 7:00 am. The victim was at Pagoda Hill near his village, cutting wood to make a handrail for his child, when he accidentally triggered the device.
“He went out early in the morning to cut wood for a child’s handrail south of the pagoda. The blast was powerful. His right leg was shattered up to the knee, and his left leg was also injured,” a family member explained. “He is still undergoing treatment. Since he has a young child to support, we are in urgent need of financial help for his medical expenses.”
The victim is currently receiving medical care at Pyin Oo Lwin Hospital. Being only 29 years old and the provider for a young child, his family is appealing for donations to cover the rising costs of his surgery and recovery.
