A Man Steps on a Landmine in Tonsint Village, Hsipaw Township, and Loses One of His Legs

A man stepped on a landmine, cutting off one of his legs at Tonsint village in Hsipaw township, northern Shan State, under the control of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA). 

In the incident, at around 6 p.m. on April 16, when 50-year-old Ko Tun Tun stepped on a mine while walking along the road, shooting a bird into the camp of Battalion (23), a former military base of the terror military council.

“He was shooting a bird from the road, and the bird dropped into the military compound. He stepped on the landmine. He was injured in both of his legs. His right leg was cut off. His wife had passed away. He has no other relatives. He is having difficulty keeping up with treatment. He had a son who as at the monastery being a novice,” a local resident said. 

The native area of the injured man was from the Irrawaddy Region, and he was sent to Kunlong hospital for medical treatment.
