On August 30, at 2:00 am, a man from Nam Kyan village in Lashio Township, Northen Shan State, was beaten up for no reason by three soldiers of the Kokang Army – MNDAA, and was seriously injured.
The victim, Ko Aik Kyan, 33, told TWO that he was arrested and beaten at the entrance to Nam Kyan village when he was on the way bringing pork.
The victim, who was beaten, told TWO, “I was on my motorbike early in the morning to buy pork because it was a holy day. They (the Kokang) were standing on the road. Their superior was drunk and fighting with his wife. They forced me to come in and settle their argument. I was scared because they were soldiers, so I went out. And I don’t speak Chinese, so I was beaten,” the victim told TWO.
The Kokang soldiers beat and kicked Ko Aik Kyan, smashed his motorcycle, which he was riding, and threw it into the ditch, the victim said.
Ko Aik Kyan phoned his brother and informed about the incident. He was being beaten until the villagers arrived. The victim added that his brother’s motorcycle was also smashed and thrown into the ditch.
Ko Aik Kyan was kicked in the stomach and suffered internal injuries to his large intestine, and is undergoing treatment at Lashio General Hospital after undergoing an operation.

U Aik Kyan continued that the Kokang soldiers met with the village administrators of Nam Kyan to discuss the incident and paid 1 million kyats for medical treatment at the hospital, forcing him to settle the matter.
