A Local Who Stepped on a Landmine and Cut Off His Leg from Sanhpate Village, Hsipaw, Needs Assistance for Treatment
In Sanhpate village, Hsipaw Township, northern Shan State, controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), a man was seriously injured after stepping on a landmine and losing one of his legs, faces difficulty to pay for medical treatment.
The incident happened at around 8:00 a.m. on January 7, the man stepped on a landmine while he was clearing the farm near Lisu Hill in the village.
The mother of the landmine survivor, Sai Aik Sai, said, “He stepped on the landmine while he was clearing the farm near Lisu Hill in the village. The wound is serious. His left leg had to be cut off. He is facing difficulties with his treatment. When he came here, he had no money. He needed to use a lot of money. He used the money given by relatives in the village for medicines.”
The landmine survivor, a Lisu ethnic group member, U Sai Aik Sai (35 years) lives at the Sanhpate village and he is still being treated at Lashio hospital.
