The government army shelled the village and a villager gets injured

The government army base in Nam Kham, Northern Shan State shelled the Par Lin Village and a local woman got injured on 28 January 2017. The reason they shelled the Par Lin village was that they had suspected the other ethnic armed group (TNLA) staying in the village according to local information.

According to the villagers: “ she is a teacher. That day was Saturday and she went to the tea farm.Artillery shelled the village,hit the tea farm and she got injured on her nose.”

The local villagers living around Nam Kham Township are concerned for their security because the government army is still active around their villages.

Ta’ang Women’s Organization (TWO) was established in Mae Sot, Thailand, in 2000, under the name ‘Palaung Women’s Organization’ (PWO). At the time, women were not actively participating in other Ta’ang organizations due to widely held misconceptions about women’s unsuitability that restricted their access to training, education, skills-building, and leadership roles. PWO’s mandate was to remove some of these barriers and empower women to achieve equality in their communities.
